5 ways to leverage your social media in 2024 (that won’t cost you a thing)

So, you have created all the necessary social media accounts for your business but are unsure how you can use these platforms to their full potential? Look no further because we are delighted to share our top 5 ways you can leverage your social media, according to our freelance marketing executive, Claudia

  1. Consistency is key. Whether it’s branding or the frequency that you post on social media, having consistency in your marketing is the ultimate secret recipe. It’s important that your audience knows your business is up and running. Using scheduling tools such as Meta Business Suite for Instagram and Facebook; and LinkedIn’s own scheduling tool, will help you to plan and prepare posts for your audience. Scheduling takes away the stress of having to manually post and allows you to choose optimal posting times without having to stop what you’re doing to do it yourself. Consistency doesn’t just stop at when and how often you post but also extends to your business’ branding. Creating posts with your brand colours, typography and tone also requires consistency.
  1. Engage with your audience. If your followers and page likes are lacking in numbers, then it’s time to engage with your audience and potential followers. Most users on social media love to be interacted with, especially by a business they follow. So head to their account and give their posts a like or reply to any comments you receive on your own posts. User generated content is also social media gold, if one of your followers tags you in their content, make sure to reshare it (if it reflects positively with your brand)! Note that maintaining engagement with your audience builds rapport and brand loyalty, so get communicating with your followers.
  1. Tailor your tone of voice and content for each platform. You may be on many social media platforms to promote and spread awareness about your brand, but usually you shouldn’t be streamlining the same content on all these platforms. For example, you may have a different target market on LinkedIn compared to Instagram. You may prefer to post more fun, informative, and promotional material on Instagram but celebrate business achievements or share articles on LinkedIn.
  1. Keep it balanced. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end, you’ll understand how impersonal it feels to be bombarded with promotional material all the time. Be sure to keep your content balanced between inspiration, entertainment, education, conversation, connection, and promotion. A way to do this is to refer to the 50/20/20/10 Rule, 50% entertainment, 20% brand information, 20% brand success, and 10% promotion.
  1. Give back. People love free things and winning them means they’ll probably never forget your brand! Giveaways don’t only positively affect the winner of your social media competition but posting offers and giveaways can dramatically increase activity on your social media accounts and create hype. It gets the audience talking and can result in not only more followers but customers too.
