I took a year out to study full time at the well-respected Media Design School in Auckland, gaining a Diploma in Graphic Design, about 10 years ago. I undertook this qualification after many years of working in marketing to satisfy two goals. Firstly, to inject more creativity into everyday life and secondly, to 'skill stack' graphic design with marketing to start my own business, providing a point of difference in offering a comprehensive marketing service.
I have always had a passion for art and design, participating in workshops whenever I have had a chance, including a childrens’ book illustration course at the prestigious Central St Martin’s College of Art while living in London. I have since self-published a childrens’ picture book ‘Cock-a-doodle Don’t’. Some of my illustrations are also available on Society6 and Redbubble online art stores.
I've had the privilege of getting great experience with Macmillan Publishers – the education division that designed school readers in New Zealand for the Australasian market. I also spent time agency side, working on clients like Subway, Hells Pizza, The Baby Factory and other well-known brands, answering their creative briefs on everything from large format signage and point of sale through to brochures and digital ads. At the same time, I managed the studio's online printing business.
Check out the design showcase for examples. I would love the chance to meet you, get to know about your business and how I can use my creative skills as an experienced marketer and graphic designer to help you.
