Outsource Marketing – the Benefits

It is where a company outsources its entire marketing function or some marketing responsibilities. It’s similar to outsourcing Human Resources, IT, Accounting and whilst it is popular in the US, it is still relatively uncommon in New Zealand.
What are the benefits of outsource marketing?
There are three main benefits:
- Access higher quality talent that companies may not otherwise be able to attract to an in-house function or be able to afford on a full-time basis
- Reduced overheads – companies only need to pay for the services they require with outsource providers offering flexibility with what they work on and when
- Reduce or eliminate the need for multiple specialist agencies that usually have media or discipline bias. Outsource marketers operate as an extension of a company’s team and therefore will be neutral in choosing the best approach to meet the brief and produce the best outcomes

How does Outsource Marketing work?
Flex Marketing provides the outsource marketing service via FLEX Packages. The most popular package is the FLEX16, which offers 16 hours marketing support each month. Typically, this time is evenly distributed throughout the month, allowing for regular client contact to keep updated on changing requirements or priorities.
We spend our time working on anything from updating websites, writing content such as articles for publication across social media or newsletters and other copywriting through to assisting with marketing strategy and planning. Magazine editing is also an important job we do for one client. There is a strong creative element to what we do, as qualified graphic designers we are able to do everything from create the marketing brief through to production of print or digital ready artwork. Brochures, annual reports, signage, digital advertising, you name it, we take care of it. Anything we cannot tackle ourselves, we call in help from experts such as printers and other suppliers.
Our outsource marketing clients are involved in a variety of sectors and typically they are companies who have grown to the extent that the owners can no longer handle doing their own marketing and need to be challenged to take their marketing to the next level. A fresh set of eyes helps them consider aspects that sometimes they have never thought of or had the time to consider or depth of marketing experience to address.
There is an onboarding process because it takes time to learn about a new business and get a feel for the culture, therefore the initial agreement is for a fixed term of three months. Thereafter, arrangements move on to rolling month by month basis as the outsource service becomes an invaluable resource – and when their offices shut down over Christmas for a few weeks, they can turn off the overhead while Flex Marketing gets a well-deserved rest!
